The collection Modern Ronin details the story of a nomadic Edo Period Japanese ronin who has been wandering Japan for centuries, ageless and without a purpose. She is akin to a rock in a stream; staying stationary as the rest of the world charges ahead. As Japan changes, as the artificial neon lights of today’s Tokyo begin to wash into her traditional cotton garments she is no longer a stranger. Her immortal wandering has now formed her into a woman very much of the past and present. Once an outcast, she is now the synthesis of Japan's past and it's modern face.
Now she is a stranger among other strange faces, collectively making up the modern world.
Created with intense research and respect, this collection aims to celebrate Japan's past and where it is today.
